  1. I see that you have just added Claus Brod's version of various bugfixes
  2. for TOS 1.4  Perhaps you are aware of the following, but I suspect you may 
  3. not be.
  4.  
  5. POOLFIX1, 2 & 3 were fixes for a TOS 1.4 problem issued by Atari USA themselves
  6. - versions 1 & 2 themselves contained bugs (!!) and Atari have withdrawn them.
  7. POOLFIX3 is Atari's official fix for the problem.

  9. POOLFIX4 is Brod's attempt to 'improve' on this fix and add one or two 
  10. modifications of his own.  It has no connection with Atari whatsoever.
  11. In fact, Brod came under very heavy fire for issuing this program under the
  12. name POOLFIX4.  He has since apologised and asked that it be distributed
  13. under some other name (I forget what).

  15. Thus POOLFIX4 is in no sense an upgrade to POOLFIX3 - simply an unsupported
  16. alternative.

  18. I see that you have placed POOLFIX4 in m269 in place of the official Atari
  19. POOLFIX3.  May I suggest that both of these, and knowledge of their very
  20. different status, should be made available to users?

  22. Please do not take this as criticism - I know you folks have your work cut
  23. out to keep up with all the software that's being circulated, and that 
  24. at  face value, the new program appears to be an upgrade of the old.
  25. Feel free to attach these remarks to m269.msg, if that makes your job any 
  26. easier!
